Camp Fire Girl patches symbolized achievements, membership, participation, etc.
At first the designs were stenciled on the ceremonial gown, later hand-stenciled onto leather swatches and sewn onto the ceremonial gown. When the designs were commercially embroidered, they evolved through a variety of backings. There have been some name & design changes as well.
These Camp Fire Girl patches are found on leatherette, suede, black felt, navy blue felt and tan felt.
Some designs continue with the Camp Fire USA program.

Originally there were 17 Torch Bearer Craftsman Honors to be earned. |
It was expected for a Camp Fire Girl to give service and show leadership in earning each Craftsman honor. |
These designs are often found on the blue felt jackets. |
By 1962 there were 25 Torch Bearer ranks to earn. Some designs continue today. |

Red Feather Award, occasionally found on vintage Camp Fire Girls' vests, Girl Scout sashes and Boy Scout sashes.
For volunteer work with the Red Feather campaign, later the United Way.

Service Emblem, awarded for 10 hours of volunteer service. For 25 hours of service a red star was added, after 4 red stars were earned a chevron was awarded for the next 50 hours.
Started during WWII, continued for several years.
